"The concept of war outdated"
Dharamshala: “The concept of war is outdated,” His Holiness the Dalai Lama said during the second day of Seeds of Compassion conference in Seattle.
While addressing the large gathering of more than 50,000, His Holiness the Dalai Lama called for more compassion and non-violence as the only means through which a better world could be achieved.
Introducing His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Gov. Chris Gregoire praised the Dalai Lama as “a deeply humble man of peace.” His Holiness urged the world super powers to consider the nuclear disarmament, even the elimination of all nuclear weapons.
“A genuine disarmament will take lots of willpower as well as dissolution of hatred, jealousy and fear,” His Holiness added.
He further explained the crowd that by having a “genuine sense of compassion toward your enemy” people can transform the world they are living in. “We all have the same ability, the same potential to develop compassion,” His Holiness said.
